Effect: The Pelham bit is a great compromise between the bridle and the double bridle. It offers a lever action that is more or less strong, depending on the cheek's length, the curb chain adjustment, and how it is assembled. This bit causes the horse to give in at the neck and applies pressure to the mandibles.

Tips: this bit mechanism makes it pivot around the central element. The bit's anatomical shape perfectly fits the horse's mouth anatomy, and the horse can easily take the bit thanks to the size of the cannons. Every Pelham bit can be used directly with two reins, with bit loops, or with four reins. Therefore, the curb chain action can be softened by using other curb chain types as leather or nylon ones.

Maintenance advice: rinse the bit after each use to prevent any residue deposit and to avoid your horse from feeling any discomfort.
